College Planning Timeline

The CCHS College Placement Office offers the following college planning and learning opportunities to our students and parents.

  • Grade-Level Group Counseling (Grade-appropriate curriculum is taught to students) with a focus on the following:
    • High School academics, Personal exploration, exposure to college – Grades 9 & 10
    • College and Career Research – Grade 11
    • College Application and Financial Aid – Grade 12
  • Individual Counseling
    • Seniors: September & October
    • Juniors: November & December
    • Sophomores: February & March
    • Freshmen: Part of Freshman Orientation & upon request in April/May
      • Review academic & college plan; transcripts; test scores
      • Review Assignments from group sessions
      • Status check on college planning timeline
      • Advise on individual questions re: college search, majors; athletic/fine art recruitment; early decision/action; resume; financial aid, etc.
  • Parent Education Evenings
    • Transition seminars for seniors (Sept) & freshmen parents (Nov)
    • General college admission- “Boot Camp” (Jan)
    • Financial Aid Overview (Sept)
    • Special Interest Areas
    • PSAT Scores Review (Feb)
    • Individual Financial Aid meetings for senior families
    • Rising senior parent seminar (May)
