Calvary Hires Trent Toler as Head Coach for Girls Basketball

Clearwater, FL (March 23, 2017) Calvary Christian High School is pleased to announce the hiring of Trent Toler as Head Coach for Girls Basketball. Toler will take over the program from Brooke Sibert who led the team for the past six years. Sibert stepped down as coach in January after the birth of her second child so she could spend more time with her family.

Toler has served as the head coach of the Calvary’s JV boys’ team for the past two seasons. Prior to this, Toler served at Oklahoma Christian School where he was an assistant coach for the boys’ varsity team going 53-4, and winning State Championships in 2006 and 2007. Toler coached Blake Griffin at Oklahoma Christian School, the 1st round draft pick for the Los Angeles Clippers in 2009. Toler took over the program as head coach in 2008, winning six District Championships and leading the team to a State Runner-Up finish in 2008. In 2009, the team was a 3A State Tournament Qualifier. In college, Toler played basketball for Trevecca University and Southern Nazarene University.

Calvary’s Athletic Director of Personnel, Todd Yoder, says, “We are thankful to have Trent Toler on our coaching staff. His experience, knowledge, and the leadership demonstrated as coach of our JV team over the past two years has proven his ability to lead our girls program to continued success. With Coach Toler already on the faculty at Calvary, it brings continuity to the team as the players already know him and have seen his leadership as a head coach. We are confident in his ability as a head coach, but more importantly, he is already respected for his character as a leader among our student athletes.”

Toler takes over a program that saw the team advance to the 3A final four championship tournament three out of the last five years. The team returns all players from the 2016-17 team that finished with a 7 – 2 district record, and 11 – 11 overall.
