Dance Program

Overview

The dance program at Calvary Christian High School seeks to exalt Jesus Christ, encourage excellence within a community of like-minded students, and display God’s love to the Tampa Bay community. Designed to meet each student’s individual learning needs, the program has two classes: Dance Technique and Strengthening and the Warrior Worship Dance Troupe. Students will be challenged to grow in strength (both physically and in character) as well as to deepen their relationship with the Lord as participants in this program.

Introduction to Dance Techniques

This course is for the students with little to no dance experience. Students will study and practice fundamental dance technique in a variety of styles (Lyrical, Ballet, Contemporary, and Musical Theater) and will be challenged to develop their physical strength through stretches and strength training. Additionally, students will learn to design and perform basic choreography.

Advanced Dance Techniques

In this course, students will develop their existing dance skills as they study and practice dance technique in a variety of styles an advanced level. Students will learn to design and perform their own choreography and will participate in several required performances throughout the school year, both on and off campus.

Mrs. Brittney Coker

Dance Teacher

Bio

Mrs. Coker began her teaching career in 2008. She strives to share her love of dance with others and ignite a passion in her students to use their God given talents to glorify Him through their dancing. Her choreography has won numerous awards at regional and national competitions. In 2015 she won “Best Choreographer of Tampa Bay”. She has also choreographed multiple musicals at local Christian schools and provided choreography for local community events. Mrs. Coker has a desire to build relationships with CCHS students and families and to ignite a passion for dance within the CCHS community.
